Books for Kids Program >>

Volunteers are vital to the Books for Kids program and help us in many ways:

• pick up and deliver books collected by various organizations, schools and businesses;

• assist with book drives (contact schools, corporations, and other organizations); and

• sort, label and box books for delivery.

Office

• Produce "thank you" notes for signature;

• Assist with mailings;

• Perform data entry for mailing lists, donations received, etc;

• Inventory maintenance of books, posters, bookmarks, etc; and

• Maintain files concerning public relations and media coverage; “scrapbook” of same; and any ads, notices, etc. from local papers.

Pediatric Waiting Room Program

Read to children in pediatric waiting rooms at the Hospital of Saint Raphael and the Fair Haven Community Health Center.

Events

• Produce press releases and work with media to obtain publicity for events, book drives, book giveaways and special events; and

• Assist with preparation and work at events.
