Community Foundation Awards $40,000 to RTG

Read to Grow has received a $40,000 grant from The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven, to be distributed over a three-year period, to support our Books for Babies program.

Toni Morrison Luncheon Draws Sell-Out Crowd

Author Toni Morrison, winner of both Nobel and Pulitzer prizes, was the featured speaker at Read to Grow's sold-out fall fundraising luncheon at the Omni Hotel at Yale in New Haven. The author spoke about the importance of sharing stories with children in developing early literacy, and presented her new book, A Mercy.

Read to Grow Inducted into Channel 13 Hall of Fame

Read to Grow was recently inducted into the Community Hall of Fame, sponsored by the Community Advisory Boards of Channel Thirteen/WNET New York and WLIW21. Read to Grow was one of 11 recipients and the only Connecticut awardee.

Sharon Davis Joins RTG Board of Directors

Sharon Davis has lived in Branford for only a few years, but she and her daughters have done much to make their mark on the community. Sharon is the newest board member of Read to Grow (RTG) and is inspired every day by the group’s message of literacy and hope for Connecticut children.

Masonicare Book Drive Exceeds Goal

Alcine Reed sat on a bench in the Masonic Healthcare Center main lobby remarking on how her hands had been busy this past week, scouring thousands of books, cleaning them cover to cover. Reed, a residential volunteer, helped with Masonicare's recent charity drive, which collected 2,010 children's books for Read to Grow's Books for Kids program.

Fairfield Kiwanis Club Tops Own Record-Setting Book Drive

The Fairfield Kiwanis Club recently held a community-wide book drive to benefit Read to Grow, and collected a record-breaking 9,000 books for Connecticut children.
