Individual Giving

Make a difference in children's lives and support our work in one of the following ways:

Gifts of Cash

Making a donation of cash is as simple as writing a check or authorizing a charge on your credit or debit card.

Gifts in Honor of/in Memory of

Make a lasting gift to literacy in the name of a loved one, or acknowledge special people and special occasions while realizing tax benefits for your kindness. A notecard will be sent to notify the recipient.

A gift to Read to Grow can start a newborn on the road to literacy. For each $25 donation, we will send the honoree a note card, designed by CT children's author/illustrator Nancy Wallace, acknowledging the donation in his/her honor. The inside of the card reads:

"In celebration of you, a newborn will receive a brand new book and the gift of literacy that will last a lifetime."

To make an donation in honor or in memory of someone special, please email  rbaker@readtogrow.org, or call our office between 10am and 3pm, Monday thru Thursday, at 203-488-6800, or donate online.

Gifts of Securities

Gifts of securities are a great way to support Read to Grow, providing you with a tax deduction for the current, full market value of the securities. There are three main types of securities that can be donated to Read to Grow: publicly traded stock in a corporation; shares in a mutual fund; or bonds.

Gifts of Savings Bonds

Savings bonds—likely the nation's most widely held appreciated asset—represent major assets that may have stopped growing and are now collecting dust, just waiting to be put to use. A tax-wise use for your appreciated savings bonds is to support a cause you care about.

Gifts of Real Estate

Using real estate, such as your house, farm or commercial property, to fund a gift allows you to preserve your cash assets, receive significant tax and income advantages, and make a larger charitable gift than anticipated.

Matching Gifts

One of the smartest ways to give is through a Matching Gift program, where your employer matches your charitable donations to Read to Grow. These matches are often dollar for dollar, which doubles your benefit level! Contact your company’s Human Resources office to see if a matching gift program is available. Then complete the matching gift form provided by your employer and return it us.
