Family Read Programs
Family Read Programs (formerly Motheread/Fatheread)
Family Read programs are based on a nationally recognized curriculum, and are designed to promote parent-child bonding by combining the teaching of literacy skills with child development and child-rearing issues important to all families.
This year, two successful Family Read programs were conducted at York Correctional Institution for women in Niantic by Read to Grow staff members trained in the Motheread/Fatheread curriculum. Funding for the programs at York was provided by a grant from the J. Walton Bissell Foundation.
